Feedback

Majority of test players found the movement speed and jump to be good, and ground pound to be great. The players response to powerups was generally positive feeling like it gave them a competitive edge and shaking up the gameplay. Players found the moving platforms fun, adding more challenging platforming and keeping them thinking. Players thought the warp points added variety and extra fast mobility.

Visual style and animations were a big hit, which isn't surprising given that most elements came from the same assets packs by Kenney. Players found the animation and camera shake of the ground pound gave a lot of feel.

Changes

Some players found the text for the control screen to be a bit hard to read so it was changed to a new font.

Play again now goes back to the level select screen rather than the main menu.

Players rarely came across a bug where the character could get stuck in their ground pound or hit animations. I believe I fixed this by altering the length of the time the animations lasted for.

After the testing period visual indicators for the powerups were added, this was already planned but also brought up during testing.

Possible Changes

These are changes that were brought up in feedback and may be added in the future if I have time to continue working on this game.

  • Tournament mode: They players select several stages to compete on and winning is based on a best of system for each stage win.
  • Immunity powerup: Where the player can't be damaged for an amount of time.
  • Ice powerup: Where you can freeze your opponent on contact.
  • More levels: With larger environments and more platforms, etc.
